Concrete & Mortar Mix Ratios

The mix ratio is the volumetric proportion of cement, sand and gravel (concrete) or cement and sand (mortar). Concrete commonly uses 1:2:4 as standard, 1:3:6 for plain/blinding, 1:1.5:3 for high-strength. Mortar uses 1:3 for plaster/masonry, 1:2 for waterproof/tile, 1:1 for finishing.

How to use

Type a ratio or pick one from the standard table. Enter a total volume to see the proportional split of each material.

Exact quantities

For amounts that account for voids and standard estimating, use the concrete volume and plaster quantity calculators.
